  • July 1, 2014. Presentation of robot NAO in the National Robotics Engineering Centre. Our institute is considering buying this robot for teaching and research.

  • Serious diseases research centre is a project in the cooperation of private sector with Comenius University and Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Researchers of Department of Cybernetics and Department of Artificial Intelligence of Institute of Robotcs and Cybernetics (IRC) FEI STU are taking part in this project. IRC is involved in the research of diabetes mellitus modelling using data from continuos glucose monitoring.

  • Robotic manipulator ABB IRB 120 with laser scanner M2-iLAN is used for robotic welding. If the scanner was equipped with water cooling it would be able to function in temperatures reaching 500 °C. It is used mostly for navigating the robot when welding and for quality control of the weld joint after finishing the operation. In the video it can be seen how the scanner is able to capture various welding work-piece profiles (white line) and identify type of used material (yellow points).

  • January 1, 2014 was our Institute of Control and Industrial Informatics (ICII) renamed to the Institute of Robotics and Cybernetics (IRC).
